I made a simple shield model and wanted to put a picture of a shield on it. Unfortunately, no appropriate mapping mode works. This what you see is a box texture map applied in object cubic mode. But parametric mapping doesn't work either. Well, object top kinda works, but the picture is too small. Any idea what I should do?

Maybe it's lame and you've already tried... but, if object top works, have you tried to scale the texture? There are several ways of scaling it... I had a similar problem a while ago and it took me lots of trial&error before having the right thing on my screen. Hope this was useful. Stefano

Is the model an import? If so did you run it through uvmapper? If it's a terrain or lattice, is the image 512 x 512 or multiples of that? Sometimes it just takes the right combo of tweaking. I've fought with tex-ing a few times. Good Luck, let us know how you make out.

I think there is a scale texture button in the materials lab on the individual channel that will allow you to scale up in parametric.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

It's on the same pop-up where you set the mapping mode. Try that.

Yes, I did try increasing the size, and it kinda works at 122%, but it's not symmetrically put on the model. The edge slips over more in some places than in others. I did run the model through UV Mapper. The problem with that is that, IME, only the first mapping UV Mapper comes with works. The rest... And in this case, I got something that would work with cylindrical mapping. But applying the picture to that map would be a pain, if not impossible. And no, Parametric mapping didn't work. BTW, I'm out of town till Friday and will try again when i get back.

Did you make sure to crop the shield picture as close to the edge of the actual shield part as possible?

Post a picture/screenshot of the mesh - that would help- what did you model it in?

Not only can you scale the texture but you move it around on the model until you get it placed where you want it. In the texture editor there is scale, rotate, and move just like for models.

What I do now is try to export models as obj, from Bryce - then open it up in UV Mapper, create the template, save model and save template, open template in Photoshop and apply texture. This usually works for me. Peter
