Today marks a major step in the history of Bryce. With the start of the new quarter and the final contracts signed, I am no longer under NDA and can release some major information in regards to Bryce, its future, and specifically Bryce6! Later today, or perhaps tomorrow, an official news release will be posted. However, for now I wish to state that I have purchased Bryce and the rights thereto from Corel. Bryce is now in the hands of one of its staunchest supporters! Brycetech.com now officially a business known as "Brycetech" has acquired Bryce and is already deep in development of a new Bryce! I have already acquired the technical expertise for development and programming for a future release of Bryce in both Mac and Windows. This new Bryce will hopefully begin beta testing later this month and be released towards the end of this year! Those interested in Beta-testing need to contact me directly. The new Bryce6 aka "WonderBryce" has already begun development. This development began several months ago and has some MAJOR new improvements for Bryce in store! What can you hope to see? The following is a few of the enhancements already set in the new version with more on the way! Poser File import (thats right, it can now read pz3 files properly with animation intact!) Preference-Set Interface (do you like it the way it is or do you want a more conventional one..you can have either with a mere click of a button!) Multiple-Working Windows (yes, it now has 1,2,3 or 4 working windows!) A brand spanking new render engine! (WonderBryce now has the option to render using its classic render engine as well as a new render engine that significantly decreases render time!) True Booleans (you now have the option to model in Bryce as you are used to OR you can select an option to use true booleans. This means that Bryce will export all models now!..even those made in an earlier version of Bryce!) A native modeler (you can now make many different kinds of models directly in Bryce itself via its native modeling tools!) True Light behavior (without the increased render time!) A brand new PLANT LAB! (create any plant you want directly in Bryce in its native format!) WAVES! (a new plugin that allows for true behavior and appearance of water waves, be they from a waterfall, a small stream, or an ocean tidal wave..they can all be done NOW with realistic materials and natural looking water line!) Waterfalls (via a new architecture and plugin, a partical generator has been included that can simulate near-perfect waterfalls...either in still or in animation!) Open Architecture (WonderBryce will have the ability for developers to make THEIR OWN plugins for the program..where any part of it can be accessed programmatically and developers can make additional items at a whim) Plugin Wizard (A plugin wizard is included to help even a novice programmer get a start on making their own plugin for WonderBryce!) Tutorial Wizard (Not only does WonderBryce come with over 100 tutorials already, it allows for the direct creation of tutorials from its interface. You can create scripts that will run onscreen showing a user how to create any item or use any feature you wish... These scripts are easily edited and a full tutorial on how to write them will be included and much more! This will NOT be your standard upgrade. It will not just be bug patches with a few new things..this is a major upgrade! It has serious improvements, enhancements, and possibilities! Pricing will be similar to what it has always been, with upgrade offers also available. Keep an eye open for the official announcement which will soon be followed with screen shots and direct renders from this new version of Bryce! David Brycetech

that certainly looks good, but will it be like an upgrade, or a new version you'll have to buy? btw, the new things you are working on, certainly look good!

RayRaz it does state that Brycetech has aquired Bryce...I admit too I was just so dang happy,I pray that my heart will be able to handle the let down if this is one S.A.P.O.S.Joke...But I do agree it is a good one...David Remind me to make you mad,I remember before that I visited your site and you were hoppin mad at Corel and now your buying/Bought/Joking about Bryce so maybe you will hire me as something?Excellent Joke..
catlin_mc posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 7:03 AM
I think if David of BryceTech did get Bryce from Corel he would probably be the best equiped to know what it needs, since he is an avid user of the program. If all the things he claims for the new "WonderBryce" were a reality what a program Bryce would be. I'd buy it wouldn't everyone here? Cat

brycetech posted Tue, 01 April 2003 at 10:34 AM
lol ok, yes it was/is an april fools joke. I figured if I said it had everything most people wanted, some might believe it. I have to say that Im actually surprised at the actual number of people who, tho they didnt buy it totally..still sent emails/IM's to beta test (better safe than sorry I guess) Gotta love those who cover their tail. :) for those who fell for it hook, line and sinker GOTCHA!!! LOL in all honesty, you will probably only see a new bryce if Doc Mojo picks it up..and even then, the good doctor would probably want to rehash some of the messy programming which means it'd probably take him a bit to get a new one out. Unfortunately, Corel will most likely NOT be making a new version. Thats actually very sad, but as was mentioned by someone earlier..bryce is in a niche that has kinda got it dug in to a hole where it cant expand without a major rewrite. I hope to see a "wonderbryce" some day... now you all can work together and see if you can get me next year :P BT
