I have seen a couple of messages here concerning 3D software for low budget designers, so here is a link I received today. http://shop.3d.com/strata/strata3d/ It is a 22+ MByte download. It may be useful to some. Siegbert

It excludes WIN95 users, a good thing to note before a download of that size ;-)

What about those on Windows 98, will it run there?

Yeah, it works on NT and 98 as far as I know.

Free news are always good news ;) - but will this program handle OBJs?

Wavefront is not one of the formats importable, but there are so many freeware converters floating about, that it isn't really an issue. I found it very easy to use. However, I only downloaded it to see its potential. Siegbert

We'vw been chatting about this program in the News Forum. I've been using Strata for quite a few years now and am more than willing to answer any questions that may come up. There are also tutorials and cool articles available at 3d.com. If you want to see what Strata can do then (here comes the plug) go to Hat Check Kelly at www.ultranet.com/~jje1/ And FYI the original Myst was done solely using Strata software. Such volumetrics! jje

Again, though, one cannot get the older versions that will run on Win95 and the current version is incompatible with the win95 OS as far as I can tell. (haven't been able to even OPEN the program, much less find out if it will run properly). KateTheDisappointed
