Ecstasy made a post announcing that had free V3 textures that were being hosted by Awful Soul. The thread was moved to the product showcase forum. Why? Are we now not allowed to post freebie announcements here? The thread seemed like an innocent free stuff announcement to me. The kind that we see multiple posts about a day here. So were we missing some underlying, hidden sales pitch, or has the policy changed to disallow even free stuff posts?

IMHO it seems that it would just be easier to have both the freebies and the Marketplace items in one place.

ooops, I didn't know that you prefer that, I posted a freebie today in 3 different forums.....if you need to move it, they were in the Vue, Poser and Bryce forums. Sharen

Not sure, maybe an oversight. Let me go find out and get back to you. Kev.

BluesPadawan- ya- I remember the days when going through the forum was an adventure every day- looking for free stuff anouncements mixed with the new products announcements. Mixed in with calls for help and contest. Personally- I think this forum was much more dynamic back then. Just plain fun :) geo

Geo...yes I agree with you on that as well...heck, I don't know what I want these days...LOL. I just got through learning how to change a car battery with some help on the screw twisting from my husband, so I'm a bit disoriented at the moment...

"...freebies and the Marketplace items in one place". Sounds like an horrid idea to me!

I think it might have been a goof - someone thinking it was a commercial texture. (And given the quality of the textures, I can certainly understand the confusion!) I haven't heard of a policy change. I asked the other mods and admins if there was a change in policy, and once I hear, I'll let y'all know. (Especially since I advertised a freebie here today, as well.) Thanks for the heads up! Cres

Well I avoid the Product Showcase forum for the same reason that I don't walk down dark alleys with wads of fifty pounds notes sticking out of my pockets during a police strike with a "Please mug" sign taped to my back, so I'd prefer keeping freebie announcements seperate please.

{Well I avoid the Product Showcase forum for the same reason that I don't walk down dark alleys with wads of fifty pounds notes sticking out of my pockets during a police strike with a "Please mug" sign taped to my back, so I'd prefer keeping freebie announcements seperate please. } Are you saying that the vendors here are out to mug us? That if we go to the Product Showcase forum, we'll get kocked over our head and robbed? Heaven forbid that a product announced in the Product Showcase forum may actually be interesting or useful. Then again, if you have to pay for it, it's just the vendor being greedy, right? Everyone should be generous and provide everything for free.

Nope, there's no change in policy. Freestuff posts are still welcome. :) The original post was in Community improvements, not this forum, and it was put into PS. Just a simple mistake. Kev. PS, "Are you saying that the vendors here are out to mug us? That if we go to the Product Showcase forum, we'll get kocked over our head and robbed?" It didn't come across that way to me. More like if you go anywhere near PS with your credit card anywhere in a 5-mile radius, you just know you're gonna buy something ;)

Good to know. "The original post was in Community improvements, not this forum" Hmm. Thought I saw it here. Don't look at the community improv. forum. Oh well. Must be getting batty. :D "More like if you go anywhere near PS with your credit card anywhere in a 5-mile radius, you just know you're gonna buy something ;)" That's for sure. :D

Yeah, I have what they call "poor impulse control".
Larry F posted Mon, 07 April 2003 at 4:32 PM
Well, at least you have SOME impulse control. LOL.

Yes, it's my "warped drives" that are the real problem....
