cool. Haven't done this since grade school. I remember the teacher giving us numbers and we had to make them into to something like an animal or face. That was over 30 yrs ago, but I still remember it, lol. Ang ps can't wait to see the Bryster's (the ole perv) ;)

My first thought was "wings to attach to a Poser babe," but you say no Poser so now I'll have to go kick start my brain too. Every month this becomes more and more of an intellectual challenge...........now where did my brain cells go to? 8) Catlin

Oh, this is great to use in a program that can do modelling from splines. I guess it's okay, if make it ourselves, no? the problem is, it's in perspective. It would be much easier/better if it was in top view.

Excellent...we used to play this game too. Only suggestion I would make is thst if you post a "final" version of the challenge use stronger language on the import thing...something akin to "imports can ONLY be something you made yourself." :) This'll be fun
Rayraz posted Tue, 08 April 2003 at 10:08 AM
"imports can ONLY be something you made yourself." I'm glad imports are allowed, it would be hard to make what I have in mind without importing models. I'll have lot's of modelling to do again. "i would prefer Bryce only" Does that mean no post-work?

rj001 posted Tue, 08 April 2003 at 1:01 PM
Hello again, well i think the idea is a go-er, er will go forward, i think i'm pleased about this but maybe i should have thought it thro, as at the moment i'm stuck for inspiration, oh well, how many times has a winner won two months running anyway.... As for the comment on stronger language, i dont think i'll change the wording, as i am pretty easy going, and we have had a few strict ones lately, i'll leave it on your conciences. And yes i know i have 'Posered' especially in my winning entry so i cant be a hippocrite. As for Post, i rarely use much Post, a Blur or Halo here and there so i would say keep the Post minimal, a true Bryce image should show off the Prgramme at its best. (Sometimes i drop a cloud plane in front at 90degrees to fog an image - free tip there) So unless any real objections, perhaps Mr Smith can make it official. luv to all. Richard.

Last month was my first month for doing a contest, but I'm not too sure on this one. I like the concept but instead of a 2D image I wish it was somthing more akin to a 3D image to incorporate into the scene. I'll really have to think on this one...we have till the end of the month, right?
Ang25 posted Tue, 08 April 2003 at 2:37 PM
This challenge leaves a lot of room for imagination and creativity. Should be interesting to see all the different ideas that come up. Bulldawg - The black and white image can be made into a 3d object by using the terrain editor in terrains or lattices. So this doesn't need to be a 2d image at all. HTH.

I'm going to make a Matrix-like action scene with someone dodging a shuriken (thanx Aldaron) I hope to make it a semi close-up shot with a shuriken leaving a matrix-number trail flying past a bullet-timed rebel. Maybe just slicing the skin.

So; Take the given shape and go from there. Shape HAS to be included into the render somehow. Does it have to be the focal point? Other than that, it's a free for all as far as subject(?) Minimal post work. mesh imports allowed? texture imports allowed? Oh, and you need a theme name... Just want to make sure of some things. Agent Smith

Gee stuck already! I had only 720 reps of "our shape" in a group and I tried duplicating that and it took a half hour just to duplicate that group. not render just duplicate. this would have been about 1/20th of the final object AAARRRGGH! I guess I'll have to rethink what I'm doing here.

Good Morning (Thats me just up and checking the forum - what with being on 'tuther side of world) i see a lot of activity on me challenge idea, great, i must admit i was kind of worried to begin with.... So to Agentsmith et al; the final wording: Here is a shape (insert picture here...) You can use it as you wish to create your Challenge entry, (e.g as a terrain, or texture or even building it as an object) - Please give details of how the shape was incorperated - The shape does not have to be the focus of the image but clearly included, e.g it could form the Texture on a wall in a hall - This leaves the feild wide open and will of course produce many varied images - The only stipulation would be that you post at least one message showing how the shape was modified/converted/used/built, and as an Old Bryce fan i would prefer Bryce only, But if you do use an import, then preferably something you have made yourself. Hope this is something you will enjoy. See you all at the voting. Time for a cuppa and a bacon roll.

oh and as for a name: i began with some old songs: "Bend me Shape me" or "Shaping all over" or "shape Render and roll", or even HAnk Snow's tear jerker " Old Shape". Guess we'll just call it "Shape Thing" nicely vague and mysterious. That's breakfast now to Do some work, (Whilst paging between Bryce and Paintshop running in the background). Richard.
