ya, it would be nice eh? I'd love to go back there personally. Central park is so beautiful... if not a tad bit stinky in some parts, but still beautiful.

Beautiful image, 'Chelle. Interesting light playing through the rail. Troll under bridge?

Alright...enough nice comments..time to tear this one apart....constructively ; )
First off I must say that this is a nice image, but there are a few things that are bugging me.
The hoizon line cuts right through the middle of the image. It is not particularly bad with an image, like this, that has such a busy background, but it still jumps out at me. If you could have gotten up higher somehow or maybe lower looking up....this is just too straight on for me...
The bridge would have more impact for me if more of the path was visible...leading me into the park. I'm not sure how one would accomplish this and still get all the wonderful details in too. Probably just slight shifts in position and angle of view.
The bits of shrub and white flower/weeds in the foreground are the most distracting to me. My eye is always being led to the bright white flower-weed right up front and is keeping me from truly enjoying this image.
Top of the bridge seems a bit "hot" or washed out....due to difficult exposure though. Overall nice tonal range.
I like the fact that there are no distracting people in this image..makes it seem much more peaceful.
All in all an very nice image.
-Just one mans opinion-

Nice photo. I may be crossed eyed but the horizon line doesn't look like it is in the center to me. It looks to be slightly above center. I would be glad to hang it on my wall!

sniff, sniff nplus is picking on me! hehehe .....but seriously thanks for the kudos and nplus I truly appreciate the thoughtful and detailed critique.....
I can't say I agree with all of it but I see things now that I missed myself in looking at the image. I have a tendency to overlook the little details such as the flower poking up there (shoulda brought my machete with me! :~) )...I'm all for removing distractions but not at the expense of damaging any wildlife that may be growing in my way.... shrug.... now my turn to counter point some other stuff :~) ....
Hmmm....the horizon (to me) is at the highest point of the bridge rail in the image....which is not in the center of the pic...so I would say the horizon is roughly about 3/4 of the way up....
I won't argue with your personal opinions on the compostion that to me is all subjective and I'm sure your idea would have worked, but I was really interested in the railing....I liked the lines leading the eye out with the tree to balance...
And I totally agree with you on the exposure....the sun was high and it was a compromise/sacrafice for me. With a bit of Photoshop this was the best I could get on my monitor...still a bit hot yes...but I got a bit more detail in the shadow, I have not printed this, would be interesting to see what a darkroom session would produce with this neg....
Again thanks so much for constructive banter...this is the sort of thing I enjoy...it helps us all learn and see things in a new way...and I for one appreciate it.
