Subject: Thought I understood Transparancies but must not - Help!

ok here is my material room setup - the transparancy pic is black 0,0,0 and grey for slightly transparent circle (like decoupage?).

AND here is what is rendered.... What am I missing? I used this same technique with my lock on front of box and it worked fine!

Try putting your Transparency Fall Off to 0. I think you have something different in your settings. Cheers!

Tried that - still giving me black around lock - Also tried using a png with alpha set to invisible (black part on lock) - but P5 doesnt seem to notice and still puts black around lock. Boy, I may have to actually learn UVmapper ;-)

Try plugging Image_Map_2 (the transparency map) into the Specular_Value, Translucence_Value, and Transparency_Edge channels, also.
