OK so with all these great tutorials out there i decided to try making a V3 texture... i'm still working on the head tex and have not made it to the body yet (thus the different colored neck) having some trouble around the eye area, and cannot for the life of me get the eyelashes to look right... any suggestions? comments? handpainted, except for the eyebrows which were borrowed from a picture i found on the net. god help me if i don't get a Wacom tablet soon, i've destroyed 2 mice in the past few months!

I'm not overly fond of the eyebrows, but the rest looks pretty good. It reminds me of a pouty Gillian Anderson. Eyelashes are a pain in the arse to get right. All I can suggest is take your time, work slowly and use "Brush Dynamics" if you're using Photoshop. Set the brush to fade, and that will help give the lashes a tapered look, like the real thing. If you want a robust mouse, try a Microsoft (yes, really, that Microsoft) Intellimouse - the one without a ball. It tracks on almost anything (except black leather and glass) and is almost bomb proof.

thanks SamTherapy, i will look into the Intellimouse - I have reverted back to my original serial mouse that i got with my new PC and its very hard to work with. i have to clean it every few hours, so maybe something without a ball will be more accurate :-)

i didnt really like the eyebrows either...here is an updated version.

do the freckles make the skin look better/worse?

note that i have not yet done the skin texture map - pores, wrinkles, etc...

i think the brows need to be lifted, a bit...and not such of a "v" shape....make them more of a "u" shape. i like the freckles

okay....#1....a real woman would get rid of this part of the eyebrows...no one likes a beetlebrow. 2. these are too red...they need some variations, even some dots of white, and yellow, to make them look real. 3. the eyeballs....they are too white. they too need to be blown up large scale, and have some red and yellow lines added...and a bit of darkening at the edges. hope i helped.

A bit of shaded blue really helps the eyeball too. I would desaturate the eyebrows just a tiny bit. I just tinker with textures, putting this and that together for my own amusement and I find, that everything at some point start going red. The desaturation tool-- especially if you kept the eyebrows on their own layer-- would really help this, plus a movement of hue toward the cooler areas. Even if you mean her to be a redhead, it can get too red. Need a lip bump, too. It's a good texture or I wouldnt bother writing this much.:)) Emily

quick note - working on some changes - there is no texture applied to her eyeball as of yet, that's why it is so white :-) thanks for the help, and encouragement!
