I am using Poser 4 with the latest patch and Windows XP Home. Everything had worked fine (except for a problem with the dials) until my hard drive crashed a few weeks ago. I've got a new HD and have reinstalled everything. Poser works fine, I don't even have the problems with the dials not working anymore. But whenever I close Poser, the computer restarts! This means that I have to go in and delete all the .rsr geometries of any figures that I was using or I get the dreaded "Cannot open obj file" message. I have installed the XP service packs. What is causing computer to crash? I am running AMD Athlon 1.05 ghz with 384 mb RAM with Geforce 2 Video card. Any suggestions?

There are different ways to close poser down. Have you tried useing the close option first , then the exit ? or do you just exit the program with a active window every time ? I had a simular problum like this but it wasnt on XP . I eventualy found out it was the vidio drivers . Do you have the current geoforce drivers for XP ? Another thing to try is drfraging your hard drive.

I had the same problem with Poser in XP (after a new HD). No matter how I tried to close it down the computer would reboot. I had to have XP reinstalled for another reason and now I have no problem with Poser closing down.

I had a similar problem when I changed the "poser.rsr" file in Poser's root directory to a read only file. Poser wants to write to this file when closing.

I have tried closing the session then exiting the program but it still crashes. Checked the poser.rsr and it is not read only. I don't even want to think about reinstalling XP!!

I know what you mean :-( It's a royal pain. But at least it cleared up that problem on my machine now I can't get my Wacom to install. It seems to be one thing or the other. Hope you can get it fixed.
