Hi Darth_Logice , I Like the layout and arrangement of this , it has a nice sence of depth. you may try playing with the texture for the tree on the left, maybe try a different shading mode,(normal, blend transparency, fuzzy, etc.) the leaves look a bit sherical. The grass is nice. but maybe try a different mapping mode on the terrain to get the grass on top and a darker muddy look as it slopes to the water.Try "world top" or "object top. you could even introduce another texture altogether and have one map to the upper section(grass) and the other(mud) mapped to the lower section. A small splash of haze or fog might help also . great start Darth. Hawkfyr

Hi Folks! You're way too modest Darth. This is outstanding. As the image downloaded I thought I was looking at an artist's representation of the Boston Public Gardens. BTW--how did you get that beautiful blue sky to survive intact on the Web? All my blues in that range get changed to purplish hues when I upload my jpeg images. Does the image have web-safe custom RGB coordinates or did you use a secret recipe? Peter (Dr Zik)

Secret recipe, Doc. Just adjusted hue and saturation on the blue channel in Photoshop :) Thanks for the kind words, and thanks hawk for the suggestions...I didn't know you could map material for height! Will have to explore that more. -Darth

Hi All, Darth,You can select up to 3 texture components to drive a channel by ctrl/clik in the second and third columns in the materials editor.,If I'm not mistaken, the first column will texture the top. the second column will texture the bottom and the third(if you want it) will blend the two. the 4th colomn doesnt work with this feature. then play with the scaleing tool to raise, lower and rotate the textures. also ... different mapping modes will react differently to this proccess. Play,Play,Play I always say. Hawkfyr

Very nice Darth. I like the look of this, it looks more like a line or pen drawing than rendered 3d art. Very nice work indeed Paul

I think it's eEXTREMELY good! :P I do agree with the thought of a muddy or wet look just above the water line. My only personal suggestion is that the right side could use a little more value contrast for balance with the tree on the left. Maybe make a bush with black branches or dark leaves behind the other tree, so that you only see bits of it. Just a thought.

And (just my opinion) a couple of flying bugs or birds, or a bunny in the grass or something would add a lot of life and interest. That's just personal preference, though. I like landscapes that look lived-in. :)

I was having a hard time adding any more elements to the scene. Bryce had become very slow and labored by the time I arranged all this. I wanted to put a Posette touching a mirror............ a through the looking glass sort of thing. -Darth

Very well done! Only thing I can suggest is increasing your close ground terrain to 1024 and maybe adding just a touch of noise. Oh, and also check the amb. setting on your textures. The trees on the right look a tad to bright. A good rule of thumb is to keep that setting about the same, (I use ~10). Unless you are trying to go for certain effects.
