Been playing around and trying to make a decent ice texture.... This is what I have come up with.... (the icicles are just quick makeshift) I would appreciate critiques and also want to know if this is a texture that anyone would like to have..... If so I would put it in the freebies. The cubes and the sphere are all 3 a little bit different texture... Tried several things in the DTE. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

The one on the right looks as if it is melting in an air environment, and the one on the left looks as if it is melting in a water environment. Very interesting textures, what settings are different between them? Please put them in the freebies! Will be fun playing with them! Thanks! TMG

Ooooh yes, put them in freestuff, I'd love to play with them. I really like the one on the right. Arleen

Here's some Bryce Ice I did to match the Bryce fire, this volumetric material interacts with it's surroundings correctly, I'll have it up for free download soon.

Do atleast one thing a day that scares the hell outta ya!!

If the Bryce Ice interacts with any Bryce Fire in its surroundings, does it melt?

Cool Mat clay. I'll be looking forward to the freebee.

I've been playing around with Ice but can't seem to get anything like either Swade's ice or Clay's - and neither is available in freebies. Help? Either of you?

Here is the link to clay's ice. If I remember correctly Swade emailed the mats to the people that wanted them. IM Swade and ask if it's still available.

Yes, I found that one - but further back in this thread Clay said he was going to do a Volumetric Ice material, that one in freebies specifically says it's NON volumetric and I've tried to get that ice in freebies to look like his pic does, and I can't... Thanks for the tip on Swade's ice, his looked good too. I'll IM him, thanks...

Hi Fran, oh don't mind me, I'm along for the ride. I never saw Swades ice mat. before, but it's splendid, one of the best I've seen. I'd like to get Clay's original settings too, lol.

FranOnTheEdge posted Fri, 25 November 2005 at 8:09 AM

Yes, I don't know if the ice of Clay's is the right one - especially as he said in this thread that he was making a volumetric one and the one in freebies here is NON-Volumetric. Or maybe the one here in freebies IS the right one and I'm just crap at using it, since I can't get it to look like his pic above. P.S. I IM'd Swade and he's gonna send me his ice. Here's my attempt at ice, plus me fiddling with Clay's ice, it just doesn't look like his does, and as for mine (circled in green) well! Yuk! And mine's not volumetric either, when I tried volumetric it just looked like a solid disc... grrr! I think I need a volumetric tut...
