Hello forum, :o)
What do you call it when the individual frames of an animation share common elements that need not be rewritten completely for each frame unless it is necessary?
I am trying to remember the name of a technique/term for sharing the information in the frames of a Gif animation in order to reduce the overall size of the file. Maybe this is automatic?
Any ideas?
Thank you.

In JASC Animation Shop, you have options to "write minimal frames" (compare each frame to the previous and, if possible, write a smaller frame containing only the pixels that have changed) and "collapse identical frames" (where sequential frames are completely unchanged).

Wow! Thanks a lot Little Dragon. I'll look-up "JASC". :o)

Animation Shop is great for GIF-creation. It's bundled with Paint Shop Pro, and is also sold separately.
