Hey all, To help celebrate the opening of our newly redesigned site, and a (finally) consolidated Poser Product Review section, DAZ3D is letting us make their Camel model available as a free download. I know this has been offered by Renderosity in the past but if you didn't get it before now is your chance. Come by, register, and download! Eric PS: I dont mind if you share the link but if you do please point it to the main site and NOT directly to the file download.SAMS3D posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 9:12 AM
Oh my thank you so much. Sharen

That is so cool! When DAZ sent to all renderosity members the freebie - I was one of those who didn't get the message. TY

Eric, not to cavel too much, but the activation message doesn't seem to arrive in the next few seconds like your page says. Maybe it's because I'm on AOL? Anyway, the address is right, but it's been a half hour now. Just a heads up.

I have read that there are some issues with AOL and the email system. I will have to work those out. In the meantime send an email with your desired username and desired password to core@triad.rr.com and I will set you up with an account as quickly as possible. Thank you all. Eric

Send an email as instructed in my post above :-)
Lovely Lady posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 3:16 PM
Axe_Gaijin is right. That is a Dromedary camel, the two humped variety is the Bactrian camel found mostly in Asia.

I have a question. Just wondering if the camel includes textures. I installed him/her, but can't locate any textures.

InDepth posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 4:09 PM
I think it supposed to come with one texture.
rockets posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 4:16 PM
I thought so too, but can't locate it...did a search, but couldn't find it. Just thought maybe somebody knew where the installer put it. :-)

I bought the camel and camel gear last year. :sigh: The basic DAZ camel has no textures... however, there were 2-3 really nice ones here in free stuff (I have one by "eyecatcher"). I also picked up a morph to make a baby camel somewhere...hmmm... "chriscox". "Cyphre" offered a free camel pack which included sound effects and information about the beasts as well as texture and bump maps. A Mimic version was at PFO. "Dmentia" remapped the camel gear to make texturing it easier. Carolly
rockets posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 5:29 PM
Thanks for that info Carolly...I'll see if I can't find a texture somewhere. :-)

My readme says it was Cyphre who made the Hi-Res camel texture. Sorry folks, no URL included so you'll have to hunt around; is Cyphre still around? (for those concerned: "for private use only. Commercial use requires permission")

Just do a search in freestuff for "camel"...it's there. :-)

Me, I'm tired of registering for every darn site.
InDepth posted Mon, 05 May 2003 at 4:38 PM
Then don't register to any of them.
hauksdottir posted Mon, 05 May 2003 at 10:22 PM
Zippo has a free saddle to go with the camel. With the one from DAZ earlier, the remapping of it, and this new one we ought to be able to have a decently equipped caravan ready to venture into exotic places. Many thanks to folks for their generosity! Carolly (who doesn't mind signing up if it supports a website)
