In Poser 4.0.2, When you set limits for an element, shouldn't the dials honor that limit? I have use limits turned on, I have set the limits for the particular dial, but when I spin the dial it ignores the limit. If I click on the numerical gadget to enter a number manually, it complain if the entry is past the limit, so Poser sort of knows the limit is set, but the dials just whizz on by. Is this a bad patch install, or operator error, or something else?

heya; that's weird, because i get the opposite. after i have limits turned on, and turn them off, the dial will NOT go past the limit setting. also, are you sure the dial is going past the limit? because i have noticed, you can crank the dial all you want, and the numbers can shoot up into the 100's etc etc, but the body part quits moving, and the number resets to the min/max when you let go.

No, it's definitely going past the limits, the body part keeps rotating or twisting or whatever the dial is for until it's a crumpled knot. I'll try turning the limits off and see if the same thing happens. Maybe it's time for the magic of reinstall. :(

There is also a way to set the limits on or off for a particular joint in the CR2. This is independant of the global figure setting.

heyas; normally, those are all set to off, so i'd figure that's not the problem... (then again, you never know!) i think the entry is 'force limits' and it should be 0, lemur.

Ok, apparently it's the IK being turned on that messes the dials up. When I turn it off (for say the legs) the dials obey the limits. When I turn the limits off, I get the same results as Bloodsong with dials still being affected.

too weird. lemur, will you email curious labs about this? they ought to know about the glitch. if you don't want to, i will.

IK and limits is a know issue. It is not a bug, but a feature. That is why they didn't fix it. I reported it good long while ago and that is what I was told, anyway.

Hmmmmmm. Doesn't seem like much a feature to me, but what the heck, at least I know where the problem lies now, so I guess it's not that big a deal.

lol! it's a feature... okay. is the dial not going past the endpoints when you turn limits off also a feature? perhaps we should go set those guys straight ;)

"There is also a way to set the limits on or off for a particular joint in the CR2." And the easiest way is to click "ForceUnForce Limits" in CR2Edit, but only for P3 figures for now, P4 broke it... Dan http://www.neca.com/~dwilmes/cr2edit.html
