Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.

heyas; you can't convert anything to a bum. you can read a bum as a bmp or pict, but poser uses a special algorithm to determine the red/green values based on greyscale ramping velocity at any particular point. it's all very complicated and fascinating. :) similarly, there's no way to convert a bum back to a greyscale image. :/

Does anybody have a file format description for the *.bum files that Poser creates for bump mapping? Got some of them that don't seem to work right and was also interested in going to/from bum, jpg, gif, etc without having to go through poser first. Thanks.
