Bloody clouds! They rarely co-operate for photo-astronomers...pretty good effort though!

Have a look at the "lunar eclipse" bit....they got a photo of the full eclipse, cause with clear weather it should end up with that great copper like color. Amazing shots Micheal!! :D The detail is awesome in those shots!!zhounder posted Fri, 16 May 2003 at 7:12 AM
Spidy, Although there is another chance in November I was really hoping to get the shots of the full eclipse last night. It was windy and chilly (50F), Do you know how friggin' cold it gets in November in Yankee Land? BRRRRRRRR!!! Thing is, I am a loon. I will most likely be out in it.

Yup the clouds were thick here in the north east too....I didn't even bother trying....
I am, therefore I create.......

Cool shots anyway. Not exactly clouds here; more like a haze. Could not see much detail. I tried a few shots with film. We'll see what comes back from JiffyMart.

lol @Michael...oops that's right you're where the temp drops below 70 which is what I think it was here last night...we keep having to duck the tornadoes! But I'm such a loon I'd be out there trying to catch a photo of the funnel ;>
It was great to see that someone here actually got some photos of the eclipse, I shared them with my family this morning, they said to tell you "Ooooh Ahhhh!"

It was hazy here as well but I already have moon pictures so I didn't mind. Astrophotography really requires the right conditions and the right equipment so I have never tried too hard. If I may ask, unless you are doing a time lapse or something, what's the big deal about moon shots? Isn't it basically a moon with some degree of a shadow on it?

The coppery color of an eclipse is the special shot. Unfortunately only planes and the tops of clouds got to see that.

Well, you live and learn. I wasn't aware of any special coloring. In November, I will be ready. Thanks for the education.
