Subject: Less comments, less views?

oliveramberg ( ) posted Mon, 19 May 2003 at 3:16 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 2:22 AM

I just have the feeling that the number of views and especially comments are less than in the past? Or is my artwork just getting worse ;-) ?? What dou you think about that? Cheers Oliver

Not sure. I do know that I am not viewing as many images as before and I'm commenting even less. So many new images get uploaded daily that I just don't have the time to keep up with them... And the time I have for surfing the galleries I prefer using on viewing as many images as possible, and commenting makes it slower so... :(

In the past when honest opinions have been aired about someones work. The person making the opinion gets ripped apart by the owner of the work and their friends. This has happened several times that I have seen. Even though the owner requested feedback. Sometimes it is difficult to provide feedback when it is not face to face, because people read too much into written feedback. BTW I have commented on your latest gallery image.

sabretalon: Thanks for your comment. This is the kinda comment which is really helpful. Cheers Oly

I've noticed a steady increase in views and comments, specially since the galleries were divided into sub-genres. Guess I must be doing something right. :o).

Maybe it is the time of year. It's spring here in Canada. It's not winter and it's not too hot so maybe people are outside more. I love your art and backgrounds, especially the Fantasy Art ones. I just posted an image with one of them check it out. Your stuff rocks.

I also think, many had such a bad winter, that they are just going out to get some air. Trapped inside to long. You hang in there, your work is good. Sharen

Thanks for moral support ;-) Somedays it's just a bit frustrating if pictures are not viewed if there isn't at least one naked Vicky... Cheers Oliver

mhh, I tend to leave comments at the spree of a moment. Either becuase I really like a picture or becuase it made me laugh. I sometimes do see images that could use some better work on them, but I don't comment on them, sadly enough I've seen many artists throw a fit if someone dares to say something resembling citique. Basicaly what Sabretalon allready said. Sad really, how are you supposed to grow as an artist when you don't listen to other people opinions? On the other side, I've seen some really low down rude remarks made as well, hardley constructive.. Ooopsie didn't mean to go into rant mode folks :) I've only really began to check teh gallery daily since about a week or so. So I guess I can't really give a worthwile opinion here anyhow :) Ah well, typing this killed some time yet agiain, think my coffee is ready now... :) Cheers, Axe.

I've also noticed less views and less comments. It gets me a little disappointed too, especially if I think I have a particularly good picture.

Patricia ( ) posted Mon, 19 May 2003 at 10:55 AM

Much to my chagrin, I just figured out last night why one of my pics (Summer Wind) has many, many, many times the views that the others have....when I made the thumb, the way I framed the character's face, none of the clothing she's wearing was showing.... Yup, I accidentally triggered the Naked Vickie Gallery syndrome and I'm here to tell ya, it's a very real thing :P

Turtle ( ) posted Mon, 19 May 2003 at 11:29 AM

I think the views are about the same. I notice one thing thats very hard at lest for me to do is thank everyone for posting a comment, with an IM. I've always say thank you on the post. To say thanks in an IM would take away from viewing others post. I know alot of people here are very good artist. But I've seen where pictures are just average get like 40 comments. I have never had 40 comments.????

lesse..one or more unclothed Vicky class models, skimpy lingerie, or less, eyes focused, bright colors, macromastic (look it up), suggestive title, a thumbnail that promises everything, and you're well on your way towards 3-digit viewings, and appreciative comments..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Bah, don't sweat it. Do -art-, not pr0n. Who cares if you don't get so many comments, if the piece is one you're proud of. Unless you're doing advertising, you shouldn't have to change your styles and themes just to fit the masses.

Lately, I've been spending almost all my free time on crafting images of my own (now that I've finally gotten Poser to work on my Mac) and as a consequence, I have way less time to cruise the galleries. In fact, if I didn't get an ebot telling me that one of my 'favorite' artists has posted an image, I'd never get to the galleries at all....And that's sad, because there are wonderful images being posted every day, and many more artists who would be favorites if only I got to see their work..... But when it comes down to it, I only have so many precious hours in a day and I have to spend them carefully. But I still feel bad for missing so many of the new images that go up. The only solution I can see would be to add an hour or two to each of my days!

I think everything on line right now is slowed down a bit anyhow - like was mentioned it's spring after a rough winter. Personally I only comment occasionally too many images, not enough time. Like turtle I'm always amazed by some of the images that have over 20 comments I haven't received that many since I left the beginners gallery (perhaps I should go back lol). But it is always nice to see that the same people look and comment on my images - I hope that if I create an image that disappoints they will gently tell me so as well. I figure that if my regular viewers are still looking I'm still doing something right heh
