Attached Link: Attack of the Left Forearm
Remember the left forarm that would appear mysteriously in Poser 5 workspaces? I thought it had been banished. I opened up Poser 5 this morning and, briefly, it appeared yet again. Not a good sign for me. Yes, I did the SR3 upgrade. :( Has anyone else caught sight of the phantom left forearm panel???? And should I be worried?SAMS3D posted Tue, 20 May 2003 at 7:57 AM
LOL...you know that is a little freaky....I would be afraid it will reach for the operator of the compter soon....what is that anyway? Sharen

When Poser 5 first came out, the Left Forearm panel would arbitrarily appear (minus the actual arm). I thought subsequent upgrades had solved the problem....you can imagine my alarm when I saw it reappear this morning. It was never a good sign. But I've forgotten what it represents. Probably the collapse of Poser 5 on my system. Sigh.

Here's a thought- Maybe it's in your default settings (assuming you have set Poser 5 up with your preferences). Try reverting to the System Settings and recreating your default.

I'll try that. Thank you for the suggestion. Just when I thought Poser 5 and I were getting along so well....sigh.

If this fixes it then the fault was introduced by a previous version, so you may be okay. Chin up Dialyn :0)

I'll use the left forearm to prop my chin up. ;)

LOL What's scary is that I always feel a slight degree of discomfort even in P4 if I am moving parts of the figure and the part is... left forearm. Dunno why but it gives me the creeps LOL

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Going back to factory preferences worked. The problem apparently was (though I've not seen the left forearm creep out for this reason prior to today) that it didn't like a too large document screen. Returning to factory preferences banished the left forearm. Though I believe it is still lurking. I may not see it. But I know it is still there. Many thanks for the suggestion. :) It was a good one.

I don't think it was that, I think the problem was in the standard P5 default. Read this from the P5 SR3 read me.... - The Service Release 3 installer provides some small corrections to the default user interface preferences. In order to make the changes effective, please delete all UI Prefs XML files in Runtime/Prefs which are not prefixed with the word 'Default'. If you want to stick with your current user interface preferences, do not delete these files.

Sometimes I don't read readme's very well. Or understand what they are trying to tell me. What I've never understood is how anyone came up with a left forearm panel to show up as an error message. Sometimes I think Poser 5 really wants to give me a finger panel but is just too polite to do that. ;)
