Hiya..here is the deal, I am trying to do a image in poser that uses shadows (shadows of a window across the poser figure against a wall kind of deal) I know there is a tutorial for something like that, but I lost the link..can anyone help?

you can put objects in front of lights to get them to caste shadows. if you have a wall or window frame that you can move on its own you can set it in the path from the light and set the shadow maps so that you get nice crisp shadows.

'and set the shadow maps so that you get nice crisp shadows' That means set Map Size to 1024, and Shadow to 1.000. A value of 1.00 will give hard shadows. Set it to .500 or right down to .100 for softer shadows. Of course, you still need a window frame.... At the worst, you could make the shape with a set of scaled poser box props and bung it in front of the light. mac

Or you could put a transmap of the window shape on a single-sided sqaure. mac

ok I am like stupid. I am using a 1 sided square as a means for the trans map, what do I parent it to? I tried the camera, but it didn't cast a shadow..

You can parent the square to the light. Double-click the square to get properties, and scroll down to the bottom to find the light. This allows you to move the square with the light, but still adjust it's angle independently. mac

Search in the freestuff for SnowSultan. He has a set of lights that comes with a square prop that you can use to cast shadows. It comes with a blinds transmap or you can make your own. Illustrender 3 is the name of the light set. Arleen
