For those of you who feel that Bryce cannot compete with 3DS Max (and I know there are a few of you out there), check out this link to 3DTotal. The most recent project overview was created with Bryce for the models and PS for the textures. This guy is a GOD! I feel slightly inadequate... Seems like I've heard the name Rochr before ;) lol

I think you are preaching to the choir here so to speak. There are some who underestimate Bryce but I think most on this forum will agree it's a fanatastic tool for it's price. :)

rochr is a god, there's no doubt about it. but the techniques he used are pretty common. he would have acheived similar, if not better results in max.

Yes Rochr has great style in his work and uses Bryce with wonderful artistry.

Forgive the sermon to the converted. It's not so much that I think he did anything supremely spectacular (though spectacular it was), they are common techniques for the shading. It's just that I find his ability to do the work with booleans in Bryce fascinating. Don't get me wrong, I find a lot of uses for Bryce in my daily workings. It's just the sheer modelling that gets to me. I find reading the boolean mesh structure to be very confusing. I usually end up building the models in a different modeller and porting into bryce. I guess the original intent of the post was to complement the artist (I didn't notice it was Rochr), and show that in such places as 3D Total (a notoriuosly Maya/3DS Max area) other programs can achieve as good a result without the hefty cost. I remember the thread a while back about "hobbyists" and Bryce so I guess this just shows those nay-sayers. I still feel more than slightly inadequate. Ken

We all feel inadiquate at times cckens but like is always said practice makes perfect and hopefully the feelings of inadiquacy will deminish as your knowledge increases. 8) Catlin

Yeah, Rochr is certainly one of the best artists I've seen online.. Let alone Bryce Artists... But I have no doubts Bryce can do many things that 3Dmax or Lightwave can do.. But there are limitations with Bryce that others don't have.. But then again, there are also some advantages. So having said all this, I'm of the belief that its not the tools, its the artists.. I dunno.. maybe im wrong.. but thats the way i see it :)
