Something I was messing about with recently and thought someone might be interested. I can't be bothered making anything pretty ot artsy out it, but it could be useful. 1. New document with white background. 2. Make a new layer. Use any brush and color to make your brushstrokes. 3. Double-click the layer to get the effects and select the 'bevel' option. 4. Mess around until you like it. 5. Use a new layer for each color. Copy the effects from one layer and paste them to the new one. Then open the dialog and modify. The blue brushstroke is with the default bevel settings. Red is with increased depth. Green is using the 'chisel hard' option with very little depth. You can go on for hours, and you can apply layer styles to all sorts of brushes. mac

PS The above pic uses bevel, but of course, you can use any layer effect. Drop shadow works well, if you flatten it out. mac

Because Photoshop did not include a command line in it's program it makes it doubly difficult for new users to follow. Could you give me a hint as to where I can find the Bevel Command?

The bevel command is part of the Layers Style. Double-click on a layer and the effects dialog box will open. Just check the effect you want and highlight the name, then you can modify the effect. mac PS This only works with layers other than the background.

I forgot to mention this. If you paste a layer style to the blank layer before you start painting, you can see the effect appear as you paint. Makes it all slightly more interesting. mac

you can also apply the multitude of effects to Text and vector shapes... plus there are other layer effects like curves and invert and applying different blending modes makes a rather interesting image... there are little sybols 2 the bottom of the layers pallette try them all have a blast!
