Im working on this picture in 3D studio max http://www.geocities.com/myamphibianfriend/test.jpg and am bassicly trying to make it look like he's drowning, is there anything anyone can suggest to give it that feeling? (not bubbles, but maybe trashing or a blur or somthing) suggestions? cheers

thrashing would be good... 1st off... since your in the PS forum.. i take it you got PS? i hope... if you dont my help will be greek. K... 1st thing... go to layer... create double... now you have 2 layers... same pic.... makign sure that the copy is on top layer.... take the laso tool and circle around his head... leaving a good (scale) 5-6 inches on all sides of his head... goto filters.... blur... motion blur.... do a tiny bit... makin sure the form is left ro right... do the same with the arms.... but make sure the form is up and down... (im flying) now make the opacity of that layer like 65-80% depending on how you like it... then you can add another layer... like I did... cloud effect.... then some ripples... be creative... good luck

Great suggestions. I would add two: first, open up his eyes; bulging eyes give an impression of fear and panic. Second, show more area around him. As it is, it looks like he's almost to the surface; widening out the shot will give an impression that he's got a lot further to go.
