Oh no! Eyelash mites!
This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

That's cool again! Did you use only negative lights? Gotta try that... s@t, if only came out before my challenge posting, I would've done way better :) This is what I like so much in this Forum and in the Bryce and R'osity community. I just posted a message in another thread just to underline that. Stefano

They are both excellent pidjy stunning renders, how did you do it? Tjohn please don't mention those "Eyelash mites", it really freaked me out when I first heard about them. Catlin
pidjy posted Wed, 28 May 2003 at 10:08 AM
Yes Doublecrash, only one negative light, with no shadow and no falloff..
Doublecrash posted Wed, 28 May 2003 at 10:22 AM
You mean we have thingies like this in our eyelashes? Gasp! Why in the world did you mention THIS? It reminds me of that strip in which Linus tells CBrown about the taurus-frog... I hate you :) ___________ Thanx, pidjy, I just discovered the other thread with the screenshots. Another bookmark to my collection of Forum pearls :) S.

Eeewww Eyelash bugs?? Eeekk!!
catlin_mc posted Wed, 28 May 2003 at 2:58 PM
You don't have the eyelash bugs when you're born but in no time at all they are there. Ever wonder why your parents told you never to share a towel with anyone........they just didn't want to freak us out at a tender age by telling us the real reason. Yes Dash, Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk!! is right......LOL Catlin

Wow - I really like the b&w render - really looks like a SEM photo. You might even try hitting it with the solarize filter in PS to punch it up even more. Are you gonna post how you lit this? really great. Scott

I wish he would post his settings Scott. This is such a great effect for doing all sorts of wild and wonderful things. Catlin

As a former electron microscopist I can tell you you've got it exactly right. I'd say you used about 10KV backscatterd electrons for this! :-) Good effect! Please post your secrets! ED

Wonderful, Pidjy! I love it!

You can find the thread a little down the column, in there pidjy posted the screeshots of the lightlab settings. Can't find it right now (this "Mark all read" thing sometimes is to regret), but is out there, I swear :) S.

And they live at the base of your eyelashes, they hunt nasty bacteria and keep them from makin' a home there, they're the good guys...

As long as they stay on the eyebrows and eyelashes and don't bite me!

Thanks doublecrash and zhann - I'm saving the link. I'll have to play with this sometime this summer. Scott

It doesn't matter which way you describe the eyelash bugs they still give me the creeps.
antevark posted Thu, 29 May 2003 at 7:27 PM
Now why would snake-like bugs crawling around in your eyelashes creep you out? It's not like you can see them or anything, just don't imagine giant eyelash bugs slithering around... :D Sorry!!

Antevark I don't think about them in general, it's only when their existance is pointed out to me again that my stomach starts to turn. I'm going to meditate now to take them out of my thinking prossesses............8) Catlin
