Subject: making bumps for poser from texture map

How does one use a .jpg texture map and translate it into bump map info? anyone know how to set the filters or whatever? thanks in advance.

might wanna ask the poser forum.... some of us dont have a clue when it comes to poser... like myself... sorry i cant help...

In poser press ctrl-u and click "Load Bump Map" Then select the jpeg and it should convert it to .bum format for you. Be sure the jpeg's B&W.

It also helps, most of the time, to invert the (B&W) texture map. I am texturing my head of these days (for Carrara) and when it comes to anything irregular, most of the time the dark parts are 'lower' on the surface. Because more dirt gets stuck in holes. But then again, I guess one does not make unwashed and dirt filled Posettes a lot...

Thanks Hoofdcommissaris. hit this link to see where I'm at so far. I understand what you mean about the inverted b&w image. I'm using Poser5. Great proggy so far :)
