Allo I just buy a 3dlabs video card vx1 and there is a setting for photoshop in advanced settings for directX Just curiosity:for what photoshop uses directX?

I suspect this has something to do with DirectDraw, a precursor to Direct3D, but I don't know for certain. I think DirectDraw is used mostly for 2D imaging and animations, but it's been a LONG time since I read anything about it.

It might speed up your photoshop a bit by taking the drawing of windows and such out of memory and putting it on the card. Direct X and direct draw are an integral part of windows. They're responsible for drawing all the windows, buttons, icons, all that jazz. Just make sure you upgrade to the latest version, which is,m I think, 7
