Where can I get a sawaro (SP?) cactus model? Thanks, Mark

Saguaro. You can either make one, or I think I might have seen one either at chemical studios or props guild. Have you checked the models on your Bryce CD? There might be one there.

There is one on the CD but it is not very realistic. Thanks, Mark

Okay, here's an idea, but it'll take some work. go to www.ditto.com and enter saguaro into the search engine. Fine a picture of a cactus you like. In photoshop or PSP, put just the pucture of the cactus on a black background, convert it to grayscale, gaussian blur it a bit, save it as a tiff or a bitmap. In Bruce, create a symmetrical lattice. click on the e. Increase resolutiuon to at least 510. Click on new/from picture. Browse to find your picture of the cactus. Put that picture in. That will make your lattice the shape of the cactus. Lower and smooth it until you feel it looks good. Click okay and see what it looks like. Then texture it. You can texture it from the picture if you save a color copy, but you have to make the black transparent, and I'm not sure how to do that. You might ask Hawkfyr, he knows how to do transparency.

That's a great idea. I think I will do it free hand. Look for it to show up in the gallery under the title "End Of The Trail" Later, Mark

About making the black transparent: what I found out when I tried to do this is that you need an image with an alpha channel, in the form of a mask of the object which screens out the background. Since my graphics app (Painter5) doesn't support alpha channels, I wasn't able to do this, but someone with Photoshop should be able to. Speaking of which, does anyone know if Photoshop LE supports alpha channels? Trying to save a couple bucks here.....
