I posted a message about how to convert regular .jpg texture map info into a bump map for use in Poser5. Above you see where I am at so far. I am still new with Poser5 but I have been scultping in clay traditionally for over 15 years and worked in prosthetic effect for 10 so aside from the technical learning curve, there is a definate vision still being worked on. This head has 4 texture maps. Dif = its pretty bland, very-fair skinned, almost a cool-tan. No shading at all except for on the eyelids and around the nostrils. translu = The blotchyness is my translucents map. Which is all bruises and shading (ill be adding veins next)... near the red/blue end. It also has a nice yellow/sienna wash. Spec = Same as my translu texture map except no blotchyness. It's more about bring out some detail on the directly lit parts so its very contrasty. bump = my bump, the reason why i posted the initial thread :) If anyone has some advice or ideas or wants to compare notes or anything...? ~slurp!Darkginger posted Mon, 02 June 2003 at 11:58 AM
No advice, no notes to compare, but I'd just like to say - I WANT THAT TEXTURE!!! It's absolutely stupendous - especially the lines around the mouth. Are you going to make it available to us lesser mortals when you're done?

No advice here, I just wanted to say: WOW! This looks really really great! Very different from the usualy perfect models. Can't wait to see the veins! People are always asking for vein bump maps so if you're good at those you sure has a niche where you could sell a lot :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Oh my, thank you! :) I won't be able to make this particular series available but I will consider making one or more for sale. Definately, if there is a market... I'm not sure... How does one goes about selling texture-packs?

I think it looks great. My advice to you would be the eyes... he has the age marks around his mouth and all butthe eyes are kinda smoth in compairson. In my exprence turns mirror around you tend to see crows feet in the cornors of the eyes and those horriable buffyness under the eyes typically a cuople layers under them. Beyound that it looks fantastic

ROFL@Shatter! Ernyoka1, yes thats a clay sculpture i did in 91. It was more or less a test bed for another project. I was also working with Ortho acrylic resins to make prosthetic dentures and other assorted bits. Like the horn there and those tiny bony-points. If i was making a posthetic peice, normally I would have cast the face it was going to be applied too and used it to sculpt on. Possibly breaking it down into individual snap-molds as needed (if needed). In this case, its my face under there just for filler. You can see it in two of the shots where that 'plate' is removed. I never intended to cast this peice, although I look back now and wish I had. :(
