Where are all the Anna Marie Goddard renders, using DAZ's latest "digital clone" product? Could this be the end of DAZ's "item of the day" tradition? You know... the "item of the day" goes something like this: no one specificially asks for a model, but after DAZ releases it, everyone and their brother makes an image with it, flooding the gallery with endless variations of the same model. Some examples that I can think of:

As far as AMG, they have fixed the EULA and it is not a problem, first I think all are busy with the new toys, they are spectacular, and RDNA is having great values too and lots to get and create. I know that I am working on a picture of Koshini and her new boyfriend, with Traveler's new Micro model but it will be a while till I am done cause I am buying stuff left and right. Also, it is almost summer and stuff needs to tend to...I really think it is just so much stuff and not enough time. Sharen

Heh, actually I tend to purposely delay doing images with whatever is currently 'in'. For example, Kozaboro's terriffic latest long hair... I have it, I like it, but I'll use it later, after the 'deluge' is over. ;) There have been AMG renders though, I did one to prove a point, and it's posted in that long EULA thread, and in the Product forum where people were posting AMG renders. The EULA was fixed though, so that's not the problem. And like was said above, there are tooooo many great items and tooooo little time. ;)

Not everyone bought AMG. I've gotten very reluctant to buy Daz's flavor of the week. No Koshini. No boyfriend of Koshini. No AMG. I can appreciate other people doing what they do best. But I just don't have the funds to buy the latest fad.

I've slowed down a bit on my Poser shopping and, while I'd love to claim it as a sign of an improvment in my basic character, I can't do that... ;) Truth is, Michael 3 is on his way and I can't wait to get him, so I'm squirreling away some of each month's money in anticipation :)

Same here...I've been so busy with work related art and home life, that I've had no time to play with any of my new toys....and the artwork I have been able to get done, I can't post here due to either TOS restrictions or contract terms. I can say that I'm pleased with my AMG purchase, but I'll probably pass on the next clone unless the feature morphs are completely seperated.

Freestuff contributors are putting out quality items that match or beat a lot of the market products, least that's been my take. At least for me the market is flooded and only products that shake up the norm like Koshi or Travlers Slugin character seem to intregue me. Textures, fantasy tatoos, and armour just don't do much for me. The AMG product I'll eventually get. I keep lookin to buy it and talking myself out of it. shrug I mostly buy models not textures, so more and more texture packs that everybody else has just don't seem to interest me as much any more. My Pclub membership is being used less and less, and my poserworld membership is being used more and more. Plus I'm saving for my Painter 8 upgrade, and some LIghtwave plugins, buying poser products has taken a back seat. that's my take on it.

The DAZ gorilla is far to good of a model to treat like a passfad. I feel the same way about the Millennium Dragon. If you use these high-quality models thoughtfully, and get past the "look what I bought!" impulse, they're invaluable. Maybe the issue with the AMG package was simply that there are already so many outstanding female caucasian textures out there ... in spite of the coolness of the digital clone concept, the latest babe on the block doesn't carry quite the same wallop as, say, a well-done or unusually cute character which there isn't already a plethora of. That was certainly the case with the gorilla. I was surprised that there wasn't a glut of Sea Dragon renders, but then, undersea images are harder to do well than dry-land renders. By the way, the DAZ Item of the Day/Flavor of this week has a name. It's "Ichiro." Fasten your seatbelts, cuteness haters!

I use the dragon and the gorilla when I need them, great models. About the Dragon, Bigt AOM, it is the most orginal art that has been posted in the Poser gallery in long time. Good work Bigt!

AMG includes some other morphs so maybe if you look close enough you'll see them being used with other V3 characters. Knowing that AMG is an actual person makes it difficult to think of a context is which to depict her, especially since she has been practically unknown before the digital clone came out.
MachineClaw posted Wed, 04 June 2003 at 5:53 PM
Unknown?! I have every issue....errr. I knew who she was.

Unknown to many of us. Still virtually unknown to some of us.

Part of the reason some of those other products took off is that there were very inexpensive introductory options (compared to regular DAZ prices) when they were first introduced -- i.e. LE versions of the Dragon and Gorilla, House Mouse is Platinum Club, Stephanie was free for anyone buying Mike 2 in the first 2 weeks.... Koshini probably caught people because of the cute factor, and Vicky's an essential product. But AMG is a texture / morph, of which there's plenty of other options. So what's being offered and the introductory cost is quite different from the other figures you mentioned. I didn't buy AMG, but am still interested in seeing what happens with their digital clones in the future. Take care; Chas

Fascinating. Andrew Lloyd Weber churned out a string of block-buster successes... and then released something which was merely pretty good. "Disaster! Failure!! Has-been!!!" screamed the critics. Even his worst piece is better than the level to which most composers work, but if he doesn't manage to hit the stratosphere, it's a dud? Same here. DAZ manages to turn out an incredible string of popular models which are well-constructed and strike a particular responsive nerve in the consumer. Success after success. They then have the temerity to release something which isn't an over-night success, and all of a sudden they've lost their touch? Sounds like sour grapes to me. Carolly

Personally? AMG didn't catch my eye. The previews weren't very attractive, and I found the EULA rather something that made me roll my eyes. When I finally realized just who she was, I had to laugh, especially due to the EULA! Fact is, AMG is just another texture/morph set of a busty woman. Pretty, yes. But that's all the set is. Not everyone wants to pay 30 bucks for a character they'll likely only use once. Not everyone cares to have a former Playboy Playmate in their runtime folder, also. But, now, if they made a digital clone of Peter Steele... Mm.
