This may sound like a really ignorant question, but has anyone ever actually sold anything in the store? I mean an actual sale... I would probably buy something (if I had a credit card) because I'm a freak when it comes to 3D models, so I can't go by that... The reason I ask is that I was considering posting some things in the store but I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble. Thanks... Kyrin

Yes, people are actually selling items in the store. Mobius' Alora is our best seller so far, with clay's Alien Sky's, thip's Armor, and dmentia's dragon texture also selling very well. All sales are continuing to pick up as more people learn about the store. If you have a popular item, it can definitely be worth your trouble. Especially if you are making things anyway. If you have any other questions or would like to submit something for consideration, please email me. Thanks, Diane Thure Griffith Renderosity Store Contact DTHUREGRIF@aol.com

Kyrin, they must be since I have bought a couple of items myself. I have downloaded a couple of your creations. I would seriously consider it if I were you. Especially those items you have put a great deal of effort in and that are going to offer something that is not readily available. I bought thip's armour pack and can understand why it is popular - there is nothing comparable available, at least that I have found and I have searched. Just my thoughts. I wish you success.

Now of we could just figure out what's causing the CCfailure problem, there might be even more sales. Need to figure a way to market our products to get more people interested too. Dave

I haven't bought anything yet. But on the idea of increasing sales I've got an idea... make a banner that people can put on their websites. The banner would have 3x by y dimensions. a cgi on renderosity's end would fill in the last 'x' to the right of the banner with a random item from the store that someone can go to by clicking on that part of the banner. Item's appearing in the banner could either be totally random or random with a higher chance for lower selling items. One thing that has to be considered though is buying habits. I buy on an as needed basis, I download freestuff on an "as I think it's cool' basis". As a result nearly everything I've bought I've used in some way or another. But I've got about 2-3gb of free downloads that I've yet to even unzip... I've forgotten what a lot of it was, and if the file wasn't well named it can sit there until I go through a mad 'unzip' frenzy. :) Anyway. I see a lot of stuff for sale that has very specific uses. Not things you could throw into 'your average scene'. I'm a lot less likely to buy that sort of stuff unless it's part of a huge collection of similar stuff (like the Zygote CD collections for Poser, and actually most of the stuff on those CD's is pretty generic). On the other hand something with lots of varied uses, like say Victoria; is a smart buy to me. If I only need something for one personal project I'll seriously hesitate if it's over $0. But if I can see hundreds of uses I might pay over $50 and not even sweat it.

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

I have sold quite a few models in the store. I think once the bugs are worked out, I will sell even more.

Viomar posted Wed, 14 June 2000 at 12:46 PM

Yes Fix the bug soon Please... I'm patiently waiting for the fix, so i can buy lots of goodies! Just a thought: if they simply added another 'Field' for the Postal code(for Foreign Countries)... or maybe make the present one accept Letters & Numbers... Sorry! My programming side creeping up! What i'm saying is i've got 7 items on my list of "To buy for Poser stuff". So i think that sells are real or will be in near future... ;-) Marc

Good ideas, arcady! And we're still working on the ordering bug. We thought we had it fixed, but it is still plaguing us. I'll pass your idea on to our tech people, Viomar.

Thanks for all the input y'all. I will probably post some items for sale in the next couple of weeks. But I'll still put at least one thing in the free stuff every week. (that's my target one new thing every week, sometimes two..) Thanks again! Kyrin

Hi all :) I have a Question (two actually): Can someone sell Celeb Characters on the Store (example :Princess Di)? and This was bothering me for a long time - How can I sell a character that is based on Zygote Poser M/F character? Doesn't Zygote have the Right to the base character? I'm not sure how characters were made on the Store - ALL LOOKS REALY WONDERFULL!!!!!!!! Hope I'm not stepping on some toes here - I'm not tring to anything - Just Confused As Always (Since I'm from Israel and.... Confused by the English also :)) ). Regards, Arye Guetta

DTHUREGRIF posted Wed, 14 June 2000 at 6:38 PM

It shouldn't be a problem if you call a celebrity character a look-alike (It now says that on the Di look-alike). And you can sell a cr2 based on Zygote's characters because a person has to have Poser and the Zygote woman to use it.

Viomar, We've just made another change in the store program. Try it now.

Viomar posted Wed, 14 June 2000 at 11:06 PM

I did at 22:00(eastern Time), Still NO GO! I tried my postal code with & without a space... ex.: h2y 2m5 h2y2m5 Though the problem could be something else entirely!! I'd like to know if i'm the only one from (Canada) with this problem. I know it's not my card, cause i bought CDs from Amazon today... Good luck in Debugging! Marc

I believe that if helps to maintain this great site, anyone of you boys, who know to model, make well in donating a model. if I knew to model in 3d would do it. sincerely, not to model itself in 3d. Sorry about my english(a translator uses to write this) My english is very poor

DTHUREGRIF posted Thu, 15 June 2000 at 6:10 AM

mat200, The online store carries textures, characters and more, so if you know how to do any of those, you can add your creation to the store as well. It doesn't have to be a model. Diane
