Hi all, This is the 1st object I have created in Carrara. I wanted to play with the Vertex modeler and thought of the Nib on a fountain pen. I think I am starting to get a handle on the shader editor (read wood grain.) This object is rather simple, but you got to start somewhere. I welcome all comments (good & bad). Vern

Looks nice. Good Job!

It looks great. The nib looks a bit wonky, though, like there's some extra metal beyond the tip.... I wonder if there's a way to allow for some highlights along the seams between materials.... Outstanding first object!

Thanks for the input, it helps to build the confidence. AzChip, You are right, the Nib has an extra part hanging down, I'll fix that. Stacey, yes I have been Rendering as a hobby since the late 80's when I worked at the Super Collider. I started with POVRAY which had no GUI and was totaly text based (even won an Internet Ray Tracing competion with one of my renderings), then went to Infini-D 2.0, 3.x, 4.x and stayed with it till Carrara came out. I love to render, just can't find the time. I am currently working on an animation using the Pen. I will provide a link to it when I get through. Thanks, Vern
