any body else having problems downloading Maier's work. I don't think it's a Homestead problem. I think there is something wrong with the URL

Everything works fine

Well I had the same problem I had earlier in the week. My browser resolves the link on the free stuff page to: http://Steffi2000_02.homestead.com/files/artpos2.zip That will fail. However if you rewrite the URL to read: http://homestead.com/Steffi2000_02/files/artpos2.zip The files you want will download. Funny how some of us are having problems and some are not. Anyway it is very much worth the effort. Maier's work is quite interesting and well worth including in everyone's library of Poser stuff, IMO. jje

Well, I have a different problem. I get a message of authentification required
and asks me for my name and password. I think I've had that problem with Homestead before. I can't figure out why :-{ Never can d/l from there. Claire

If anyone has found the perfect free host, they've been keepin' it to themselves. Is Roy's list of contenders still up around here somewhere?

IT takes me about 20 retries to down load anything from Homestead. I think they do that deliberately so that people will try Go!Zilla.

A generic name and password dialog is a semi-polite way servers have of refusing traffic when they are overloaded.
smallspace posted Thu, 15 June 2000 at 10:01 PM
...either Homestead's servers are way underpowered or they are handling more traffic than any 3 other servers combined! I've had the same problems at 3 in the morning! However, just as soon as I started using Go!Zilla for Homestead down loads, I had no problem at all...

I've never had problems d/loading from Homestead. And Maier's d/loads are well worth getting - there's some excellent work there. Paul

I agree with smallspace. It's a question of persistance. I just keep going to the URL and eventually it works. Sometimes I just come back an hour later and try again.
