Anyone know where I can find gears and piston props? Lannie's used to have them but his site is down.

By the way gearmaker doesn't allow the teeth to mesh, or allow beveled gears. Perhaps someone with 3d studio can whip up a set for us.

"doesn't allow the teeth to mesh"? what this mean?

The size of the teeth are proportional to the size of the gear. A 10 toothe gear can not be used with a 22 tooth gear.

Sorry, I am poor with mechanics, don't understand yet

here's a quick 'n dirty way. Get Wings3d (www.wings3d.com). Create a cylinder. Highlight the whole thing. Hit 'extrude', pull out slightly, and you've got gears..can save them as .3ds, and pull them into any program that supports 3ds. There also used to be a program called gearmaker...filename gearmkr.zip, Author Ricardo Kawecki, and I found it hear at 'rosity. Might still be around. hope this helps..

If you want a small number of specific gears, I'll be glad to make them for free using Amapi. Give me the tooth counts and relative diameters, and maybe a picture of what they should look like.

My gear maker is still here in the free stuff, it has 4 parameters: Number of teeths Ratio: (external/internal radius of the tooth (depth)) Shape: (changes the slope of the tooth (straight planes no evolute) hole: the radius of the hole. I don't know what more is needed for improving it, maybe some depth information for conical/oblique gears?
