I'm not sure if these are bamboo, or just some relative. Interesting thing, they are only about five inches tall. I am really likeing the 20mm f/1.8 Sigma lens I mentioned here a while ago. It focuses down to about six inches; but that is six inches from the film plane. So the front of the lens is only about 1/2 inch away from these guys. Makes it look like a whole forest!

Looks like a great lens! What a wonderful little forest with all the different hues of green. These are called Horsetail (Equisetum hyemale). The bushy slender stems that radiate out from a main stem look like a horse's tail. Your photo doesn't show the bushy part at the top. Some people think these once grew sixty feet tall, like trees. Horsetails today don't usually grow taller than four feet.
