Well, with this new color scheme, it appears there are less options to customize the pages...I can't get the colors right for the life of me...just too bright... I have black background..but the text is actually hurting my eyes..to bright or too dark... the text also seems to clash with the gray olor of the text boxes...

I have to agree Dave-So. I sent a comment to the general email. At first I couldn't get the text to change....now it's white text on a black background (I hate white backgrounds) but stuff does seem to clash. Maybe I'm just resisting "change" :) Comes with age they say! :)

Somehow, the word "home made yuck puddle" comes to mind no matter how I struggle to adjust it to a pleasing color scheme.

Jackson posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 5:46 PM

I kinda like it so far now that the background is not so white. The text in the drop-down lists is a tad small for these old eyes though.

Officially, there's several threads already in the Forum News and Team Contact about the reactions to the site changes.

home made yuck puddle - I must official plead "No comment" but my co-workers are wondering why there's tea all over my monitor ...

I hate it too. But you can use photoshop or any other image application and get an rgb color code to make the background and text the color you want. I have a dark chocolate background with light yellow text. I prefer black but it just didnt go with the sidebar colors and text. sigh Bring back our options PLEASE!!!!!

MaterialForge posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 7:13 PM

DCDCDC for the text - it seems to look ok on a black background. (at least it works for me, but they say I'm whacked...) --silver

MachineClaw posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 7:15 PM

Unfortunately whatever background and text other than defualt I cannot read the options like the hyperlink for forum names, "mark all read" is just blah. doesn't mater what I use. Of course defualt is white with black text and that just is not gunna cut it for me. hopefully there will be enough sugjestions about more options of some fix that something will get done. I'm blind now.

FrankJann posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 7:33 PM

Gotta say I'm not crazy about it either. I think the worst thing is the drop down menus for the forum selections. The ones at the top for Member Options and Info are good but the ones for the forums just make it more difficult to get where you're going quickly. The old look was good and the old way of displaying forum links on the side worked nicely. Just adding my .02 to the fray. Frank

I just tried several different combinatons and I think I've finally hit on one. Light seafoam green background with black text. At least it's readable. Green is supposed to be easy on the eyes, so that's what I'm sticking with until they do something about this. It looks like crap against that ugly sidebar, but at least I can look at the screen without squinting. I was getting sunspots from that default. Melanie

Just a note on the "dropdowns". Agree with FrankJann....loose 'em. Ah...people...!!! You can never make us happy!

"You can never make us happy! " True, but a business -can- avoid making its customers suddenly unhappy. Neutral contentment is just fine. Old saying in marketing: "The customer is yours to lose." Means that it takes a crowbar to break brand loyalty. So why did Renderosity spend money on this crowbar?

What's the hex code for the rose-cream color? I'm using grey, but something a little warmer would be nice. Thanks!

Hrrrrrmmmmm.. so far I"ve attempted to alter the colours about 4 times.. I can get the gold lettering.. but it doesn't carry over onto the sides nor top... but the background refuses to change beyond an olive drab... sigh out of curiousity.... have you tested the system with the range of browsers out and extant? as an example I use Opera with High java security... I miss all the work I did to make the place look good to my eyes 8 (

Well, the default serif font is driving me nuts. Hopefully, that'll be the next thing fixed. I can live with the new color scheme it if they insist. I've got the pages set to a charcoal gray with a blue tint, the links a lighter blue, and the visited links a medium gray, and it works pretty well with the muddy brown. In fact, since the brown is in the red range, the blue actually kind of makes the brown look attractive... I really do think the defaul color scheme is pretty bland, though. A site like Renderosity should have a more dynamic scheme (which is possible, even with neutrals). Okay, enough of my complaining. I see that TPTB are listening and I'm going to let them do their job. :) bonni

I'm trying to figure out where the "brown" is you all are seein? I see a sort of grey/olive side bar. The only thing that resembels brown is the bottom of this box, which is sort of a grey/beige. Makes me nervous.....I'm going to have to post a wip of something to see if I've gone color blind!! :)

dialyn posted Thu, 19 June 2003 at 11:25 AM

What you see has a lot to do with your monitor's settings, I think. People are complaining about the website being too bright, but it strikes me there may be an actually difference from computer to computer. I see a very soft purplish brown for the table of contents (I have no trouble reading light colored text against it) and a creamy light color against which the black font is easy to read. Obviously not everyone does. It looks very peaceful and elegant to me. Which means, of course, it will be changed since my tastes tend to run counter to everyone else's. Oh well.

melanie posted Thu, 19 June 2003 at 7:12 PM

Sandoppe, to me that sidebar looks like dried mud. LOL It's a light grayish brown. The frame around the box I type in looks sort of pinkish with dried mud on the left side. Actually, the pinkish tone is sort of nice. If the rest of it was that muted pinkish, actually maybe I'd call it more of a mauve, it would be easier to look at. Anyway, after all of the hoop-tee-doo over this, I would guess that very soon we'll see a change. Melanie
