The folks at E-On Software removed the erroneous requirement of an "OS X serial number" (no such thing), and now all us Mac users can get a copy (thru 6/30/03) for $149. Woo-hoo! Or as we say in Texas, yee-haw! Render THIS, Bryce! texboy (OS X enthusiast)

Hey, gebe, plz note that your quoted thread says "proof of ownership of Mac OS X" is required. Maybe you should read my message more closely.

We accept several proofs of ownership. Apple has not consistently supported serial numbers in every version of Mac OS X. Some have accessible serial numbers or codes. We match up several of them to accept as proof. Do a search on Apple's knowledgebase and you'll come up with some interesting information on identifying an installation of Mac OS X.
