Slakker is still in high school. Therefore not an adult with a job and money. Although, I'm an adult with two jobs and still no money, lol. And Teh=the. Ang I use tripod. Its a little annoying but not as bad as geocities IMHO.

LOL, Lots of typos in this thread. I'm fine and you? I just don't like the drop down screen that I have to minimize whenever I go to a geocities webpage. Other than that don't see a problem with it. :-D

well, neither geocities nor tripod allow remote linking...

Just testing the remote link thing. Not that I understand it all that much but I thought it worked on only the tripod main page of my webpage.Ang25 posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 9:51 AM
Ok, so now that I've done this, maybe I should have asked what remote linking is first? Cause I'm probably all wrong about this and shouldn't have responded in the first place lol.

remote linking is the direct link to images or files. It's like getting candy without the store...kinda.
Ang25 posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 10:26 AM
Ok, so its like all the other pages that I can't directly link people to. But its free so you could set up a gallery at the main link. Sorry I wasn't any help.

My Arabian Nights book is still up on a free host. I posted it when I was doing the PTA websites. There is ten megs free for local community non-profit interests only. If you just want to post pictures you can't get it. If you can come up with a compelling public interest that needs to be served and just happens to need pictures, there are community sites like this all over the web. Community Shares, Trash Bash, Friends of the Smokies are all hosted free on this server. Don't know about your town but Knoxville is dinky. I bet you have a big city within your area code that has some form of freeweb. Call the library believe it or not. If you want to pay nothing and post whatever you want you will have to accept banner adds and popups. Aside from geopages and tripod I don't know. There is a site called www.25megsfree.com that I tried. They said they could move my geocities account to their server if I gave them my password (they couldn't). They said I could use frontpage and FTP (only after I upgraded to the paid service). The price and service was about the same as geocities so I stayed put. The other site called 100megsfree is now a booming freesite for porn pages. Don't go there.TheBryster posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 7:21 PM Forum Moderator

i'll just wait for my last host to come back online. The mysql and php guy disappeared and the webmaster wants to recode the free hosting section.
