Very nicely done. The tree texture looks great, as does the water. It all looks great really. I'm quite happy with the material room in P5. There's a ton you can do, and still alot more that I haven't even messed with. Nice job!

Yes - great work! I think once people really start to explore the potential of the shaders, they will jump on the P5 bandwagon. I would have gladly paid for that upgrade even without the hair and cloth. I have been able to create some very impressive shaders which render soo much faster than textures AND have higher detail levels! I REALLY like that water you made - it has a nice "swampy" feel to go with the mossy tree trunk! BTW, although I kinda like the grainy texture on the rocks/tree trunk, I think it comes from your Minimum shading rate (pixel area) being set to a high value. If you go to your Render Options and set the minimum shading rate to or 0.3 or 0.2 you will find that the textures will have a lot more detail, and will not be so grainy. But if it is intentional, then as I said, I kinda like the effect here. :-)

What settings did you use for the shader nodes on the tree and on the water? Thanks! BTW: Your use of light and color is really well done. The figures are in sharp focus without popping out of the scene.

Beautiful shaders and characters too. Can one create shaders in P5 or does one have to have another proggie? And, I'll be bold enough to ask-- any chance of sharing that lovely tree and water? Emily

You make shaders by combining shader nodes in Poser 5, It's really quite powerful, and easy once you understand the basic concepts. It's very "visual"

anybody in the mood to go into a bit more detail about all this, you lost me, that pic is wonderful, how'd you do the water? I am a bit lost on the whole shader thing :)

ok just opened p5, a shader is just a texture correct? blending one or more textures? Ok I have black hair am I having a blonde moment? (no offense)

OK, I'll start with the water shader. I'll post the tree shader screen drop later (sorry, short of time at the moment...) First: create a water texture. I did it in Photosop, simple clouds in nice blue (or swampy greenish, like here), some gausian blur, anything You like. Second: bump map. In distortion in photoshop, add some ripples, tides, whatever you like... Third: poser 5 material room. Easy - texture applies to the diffuse and spectacular (the top ones) bump to the bump (about 0.5 or 0.2) Reflection color - lighting, raytrace. (I'm writing from memory, i don't remember the chain exactly now). Set it as it is by default, later you can adjust. Remember to set the Raytrace on in the Render Options of Firefly. One light should point to the surface of the water, but it is better when it doesn't cast any shadow. And the most important thing: experiment!!!
