I don't think there should be a pool of light beneath the table. Any ideas???? I could render without the light...but the idea is to use the UltimateFIRE as the only light source so, if I do that, it throws the graphic into complete darkness. Not what I want.

BTW, if I look at the light from above, it looks centered over the table, so it isn't that it is in front of the table.

Sounds to me like it's the question of shadow maps. If they're too small, light will leak thru gaps, in this case probably between the table and the wall.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Have you tried looking at it from the side? That way you could tell if the light's over the table or out front of it.
Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Yeah, I looked at it from the side. It's over the table. It's almost as if the table has a whole in the center but it's not transparent in the top. I'll try the shadow maps. Thanks!!!

Hi Dialyn, You can move the lights around with the dials. Just click onto one of them, say the ones that are pointing to the ground and rotate it and see if that helps. Genny

Is there anything intersecting with the table - sometimes you get a bright spot on the forehead with hair/hats and it turns out that the head mesh is passing through the hair or hat mesh, using a magnet to suck the head in a bit clears the light (I suppose that could still be the shadow map, but the edge of the headcovering is still close to the surface of the head).

I think youre gonna need to adjust the Distant Start and End of the spotlight "Firelight 1" I set up a similar scene when I read this post and had to set the DS to 2 and DE to 3 before I got rid of the light on the floor but kept a decent shine on the table.

You all are just too good. I'm heading back to the graphic and twitching dials. Thanks!!!

All I know about lighting I owe to Dr. Geep. LOL

A lot of us owe what we know to Dr. Geep. I wish he'd come back. Anyway, you solved the problem!! Well done, everyone. I can happily put this question to rest now. :)
