Hi evrybody, I just got P4 and I was looking around at different websites for new clothes, and what have you. Since I'm really into military/war related, one site called 3d cafe(I think that was it) fit right in. However, all the files have either a 3ds or max in the DL description, and no instructions of installation. Is it even possible to use all these files in poser?

No, you can't use them all, but Poser can import most .3ds files as static meshes (props). File menu --> Import --> 3D Studio After you've imported the mesh, you can apply new materials and save it to the Prop Library in Poser format. Turning a prop into a posable or conforming figure is a bit more complicated, unfortunately.

Ahh, ok thanks a lot. I didn't even know I could do that LOL.

Just a word of warning. When you import files to poser, they are imported as 'percentage of figure size', which is one of the options on the import dialog. Since poser's universe is tiny compared with every other 3d program, the files will probably be HUGE if imported as they are. You'll have to use 'percentage of...' and try to get the size somewhere near the figure you're using. It's the only way. mac

Either that or export the huge models as .OBJ for scaling up with OBJaction Scaler. Or use a 3D format conversion program that incorporates a scaling ability, and scale the models down. Be aware that in 3D model conversion there is always a chance that you'll come across "interesting behaviour". To cut a logn story short, a lot of stuff fworks well but there are always the exceptions which confound you with bizzarre results. In particualt sometiems .3DS models "explode" when imported into another program. Persevere - there are solutions to many of the problems, though they mostly involve some work ;(
