Hi. I have all my Zygote .exe files cluttering my Windows 98 deskptop and they refuse to be moved into folders. I don't want to deleate them in case the actual models somehow get currupted in use. I've considered making the .exe files invisable, but can I somehow move them to folder? In the future I'll download from Zygote to a folder to begin with.

You can't open a folder (c:ZygoteStorage, perhaps?), then cut the exes from the desktop and paste them into the new folder? I've done this to put "permanent" files into the Recycle Bin...

have you tried highlighting the files, then right clicking and choosing cut from the menu that appears? Then paste the files into the folder you want them in. I have always been able to move my files into folders on Win 98 Hope that helps Storm

I'll try it... I thought cut/paste applied to text in the file name. Now that I think of it, maybe I can do something from the DOSprompt.

You can't simply move an exe file, that only creates a shortcut. You have to cut or copy, then paste.

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

You can actually use Explorer for that if you feel more confortable with it, open Explorer (the Windows one, not the Internet) on the very top of the left "screen" you'll have Desktop, click it and your files will appear on the right side, just cut and paste them to any folder in your hard drive. Cheers.

Try 'drag-n-drop' with the Shift key pressed. :/ Mike

Thanks. Right click cut&paste did it. I've started using Windows Explorer on my Windows 95 machine at work but actually haven't found it on the new Windows 98 machine I got at home to replace my dead Mac... I'm still getting used to Windows. Thanks again.

Re: 'I'm still getting used to Windows.' "I never believed that just knowing certain things could drive you insane. Then I discovered Windows." someone's sig file I used to do tech suppport for Macintosh products (12 years); now it's Windows software. The biggest difference is now every third person says (under their breath) "I hate this computer." That used to never happen.
