Initial impressions of this program are positive. I don't have any preconceptions about how a modeling program should behave, but it certainly seems a different beast than the standard ones like Milkshape, Wings 3D, etc. It's very much a mouse based program, drag and drop, deform, select, all done with the mouse. Lots of different ways of creating objects, from deforming primitives to skeleton based, to starting with a cross section, giving the program a side view also and having it extrapolate the rest. I haven't actually created anything exciting yet... the futuristic Naval vessel looks a bit more like a spaceship.. and it's not exactly perfectly symmetrical (one of the issues with mouse based deformation is you need a pretty steady hand - I'm sure there's a way to do it with just the keyboard, but haven't discovered it yet). The sheer number of possible operations that can be performed is high, just getting into how to modify textures and that seems simple. Will post more impressions as I go along, but remember this is based on the Pro version, so the free trial edition (with no time limit as near as I can tell) has quite a few less features (limited most in the export and import files it supports). Have yet to download the PoV RayTrace Renderer that plugs in for free. The animation features are quite nice... Hmm.. Well, hopefully I'll have something useful to post here soon, as in an actual item created with it.
