Hi, I am putting together an animation (Poser 4) using Mike. I ned to animate him walking and I started off using the Wlak designer. I am going about this in the exact way as in the Book that came with Poser 4 (Page 234) and it mentions to assign a figure type to the character, so I go an look for the mike figure type, I believe this is a .cr file, The problem is that I cannot find it or more to the point I dont have any cr files on my machine, any help is much appreciated as this is under a major time constraint. Thanks a mill

Hmm, I wonder if you mean cr2? That's what all the figures in Poser are. The cr means it's a character file. Melanie

Its possible that your figure files have been compressed. Try this:-
Hope this helps.

OK we are both typing at once :)
Notwithstanding the above I see that your flie Open window has a drop down "Files of type" field. Just opened mine and I can see it lists out *.CR2 and *.CRZ (compressed) files. All you may need to do is select *.CR2 for you to be able to see your files.

Oh bummer looks like you are CR2'ed !!!!!!My list has *CRZ, .CR2 and ALL as options. I see your's has "(.CR" . I wonder if this was an error that was addressed in a service release. Is your version up to date?

Here is a direct link to the patches. One last thought, sometimes you can just type the file name into the file/open field if you know it. Or maybe we could sneak up on it this way. Go to Edit/Preferences and SELECT "use file compression". Now save a Michael figure back to the library. Now see if the file is visible in the file/open box.

also in the box for the file name try doing . and hitting enter it might then let you see the other files

Another alternative is just don't bother to "assign a figure" to the Walk Designer. I've found that it works well enough with its default; requires a certain amount of tweaking in any case. Incidentally, it appears that your Windows system is forcing a 32-character limit on the strings in the file box, which is why you're not seeing the 2 in the CR2. I've never seen this before; could your system be set for some odd kind of compatibility?

I think that does it alright, just typing in the name, thanks man,
