For some reason my terrain import plug in is not working. When I try to import it says there was an error with the plugin. Perhaps its the size of the file. 300 DPI ect. Maybe it's not in the right format. Anyway i tried reinstalling RD5.5 but there was still a problem. Anyone have this happen to them? SPACEY

If it is a terrain that you saved as a DFX and you want to re-import it you need to make shure to scroll down to "DXF format" in the open dialog window. If you leave it set at "readable formats" you will get a plu-in error.

I'm actually trying to import a terain map that was made from a scan of some b/w images. when I try to imort the PICT it gives me an error message. If you know how to make face maps from pictures then you know what i'm talking about , however I just want to import a picture and make a terrain out of it. What am I doing wrong. SPACEY

The resolution shouldn't be causing the problem. I've made terrains out of 1024x1024 @ 300dpi grayscale picts with no problem. (RDS5.5.1, MacOS 8.1 & 8.6) To create a Terrain from a grayscale image: Go up to the tool bar & "Insert>Terrain". When the Four Elements window pops-up click the "Edit" button & it will open up another window which is the terrain editor somewhat similar to Bryce. In there you click on the little "disk" icon to open up & import your grayscale image to use as a height map. (Wish I knew this before I went out & purchased Supermesh!). P.S., there are a few MAC freeware apps that will create a DXF from grayscale or DEM info if that still dosn't work; BSmooth, Terrainman & MacDem.
