If I make a dance animation, what would I have to do to load it into poser Poses' to use with other models. Appreciate any help. Using Poser 5 EarldancerMeexter posted Fri, 18 July 2003 at 5:38 PM
Hi mate. I know the troubles U R going in. :-)
Don't desperate. First of all, U have to export your dance anim. as *.bvh file (name it what you like) and later (when U had conformed your model)import the file as a *.bvh and watch the result.
Note : U may need some setting on the BVH to load right before use it. But first U need to load it to check. There are some BVH Editors around.
As well, there are many many motion files 4 download on the web.
Good luck and happy Posing.

Are you trying to get animated poses similar to what Forge Studio did on their Poseamation Disk? You can do it and the files do have the .pz2 file suffix. The .pz2 file format is flexible enough to encompass multiple frames since they did it. However, if you take the standard method of having your animation controls and the pose library open at the same time and just use the add feature, you get only one frame.

OK> I dont use poser to make my animation. I use u leads gif animator. I make an avi file, import it into poser. It plays fine. then I can save it as a bvh file and bring it back to poser. But how do I save it to the Pose library? there is no add button showing. The 4th Party posted Fri, 18 July 2003 at 7:31 PM
to add the animated pose to your pose library, open the pose folder you want it in, and click the checkmark at the bottom to add it, when you get the Save Frames dialog box, check Multi frame animation, then enter the frame numbers you want to save (1 to 30, 15-105, ect.) hope that answers your question :)

When I load the animatio into poser,it plays fine but none of the checks or buttons show so that I can add it. The buttons only show up if I open a Figure. Am I just stupid or what? Can you help?

This is my idea. Tell me if I'm right. I teach dancing on my site.I make a frame for each step save the photo then animate it in ulead. I can make a film of me deancing, upload it and turn it into an avi.then I can load that into poser and save it as a bvh. Then if I can load that bvh into Pose I can make my model do the dance. Now I save each frame as a photo,go back to U Lead and make my new animation with the model instead of me. Any feedback ? Would you call this the poor mans MoCap?

Also, when I make a dance for my site I delete all frames except for the actual step. This step is shown for a couple of seconds so it doesn't matter. This keeps my file size down. I just need to figure out why I can't load my BVH into the Pose library. As I said, none of the buttons show. Help,Help,Help. The 4th Party posted Fri, 18 July 2003 at 9:09 PM
in order to save the bvh file to the pose library, you'll need to apply the bvh to a figure, then save it

Thanks, I'll try that. This may sound silly, but how do I apply it?

Your avi is not a pose file or a bvh file. When you import an avi it is used for the background picture. For Poser to use it you would need to recreate the animation in Poser. You can import your avi as a guide to posing your figure. Once you are finished animating the figure you can save the animation to the pose library or export a bvh. I would probably save it in both formats. Hope this helps you some Ed

Thanks, everybody for your help. I know where I'm at now. I was just getting comfortable with poser when I had my Heart attack. And laying in bed for 6 months I have really forgotten the very basics. Your help is greatly appreciated. Earldancer
