Sad thing is, I was trying to make a flaking, rusty text...

Well, I think it looks very funky. Perhaps ancient alien metal? Do a scene with it sometime, and use the downloadable textures for the challenge. Lin

you might add another, more scaled down, texture to drive the bump channel along with the one you have. maybe same for your diffuse colors. Then I think it could really pass for bark

If you have the manual, limited as it is, it should help, and Vandijck's DTE tutorial, takes you thru step by step. Do the tut and use the materials you create for the challange, or just use the textures I supplied, just don't give up...

I think it's an cool material! Looks like a serious infestation of bark beetles, or very ancient eroding plastic. Don't give up now!

Agreat looking texture. You say it's bark but I think it would be useful for all sorts of things by adjusting the scaling. Catlin

Agree with Catlin. Seems a good texture for many uses.

Well, thanks for the comments. My time is limited 'cuz I'm puting a rental property on the market for sale... so all of my free time is taken up painting, patching and cleaning. I really like the concept of this challenge, and I'm endeavoring to learn the DTE, I just don't know if I can put anything together. If anyone wants to play with this texture, give me your email address and I'll send it to you. May you have good luck with it!

I like this texture, can you email it to me (aaron.weaver@verizon.net)? Looks like something I have seen as Modern art.
