I've been working on a scene with a cottage, just building the cottage for now. I've fooled around with skies just for fun and now none of the sky presets looks right. They're all really hazy-looking and darkish. It's just on this one file. I can open a new file, click on the same preset, let's say Take Me There (top row, 4th from the L, in Bryce 5), and there's all the colors and clouds. I've gone into the Sky Lab and I don't see any difference in the settings, although I could be missing something. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Willow

Did you perhaps put a volumetric object (or at least an object with a lot of transparency) in your scene that completely surrounds the scene except (of course) the sky?
That's about the only thing I could think of that can cause what you just said.

I was thinking of a volumetric or fuzzy object too. Don't know what else it could be

No, no volumetric or fuzzy objects. I'd post the picture but I don't have a program at present to change it to the right kind of file. Guess I'll start over. Thanks.

You can save right from Bryce with a .jpg file.
Fractals will always amaze me!

That is strange. Have you tried creating a new scene with the right sky and then merging it with the scene that acts strange?

I did finally figure out how to import the cottage into a new scene--when all else fails, read the manual. Guess I'll never know what happened with the skies in the first file, but at least I don't have to make the xxxx cottage again. Thanks.

you can always e-mail me the file that's acting weird. Maybe I can find out what the problem is in a closer inspection?
