1. What are RSR files used for? (and I guess you're in a
world of hurt without are you, am I right?)
2. Is the Poser Pro Pack a better way to use V3 or is it
just an un-necessary add-on?

Poser 4 uses two types of rsr files. One is for the library thumbnails, the other goes with the obj files. The ProPack doesn't use rsr files for thumbs, it uses png's. IMO, ProPack offers some nice features for using Poser overall, not just V3. It adds different window views and python scripting, among other things. My wife screams at me in the morning all the time, so I'm used to it ;)

There is also a third Poser.rsr that resides in the main Poser folder, which is very important.
