i was playing around on the net and decided to check out mimic because everyone talks about it so much. i viewed the sample movie of what it can do, and i have to say, i was seriously not impressed. let me expand on that. the blinking was awesome, just as real as could be. the head movements were amazing. i wondered if it was mocapped from a real human. the lips were so wrong, it was like watching anime. only the basic tones fit. i turned the sound off and played it several more times, and not once could i make out what the character was saying, even though i watched it maybe 10 times with the sound on. i know that everyone raves about this program. i know it's toted as the greatest thing since sliced bread. and i know that it's probably way easier than doing it manualy, one frame at a time, but i just can't see spending that much on a program that just looks so wrong in what it does. i was hoping that someone out there has a better example of mimic at work. frankly, i can't buy it if it's at best what was in the daz example. sorry if i spoiled anyone's day here. those loyal to daz/mimic might like to see me strung up here :)
