Thanks! A few people have had trouble with the automatic subscribe. If you're at an address that automatically adds text to your email, like an advert at the bottom, or even a signature, it unfortunately won't work. The only text in the body of the email must be: subscribe GildedGeckoNews Otherwise you'll get a syntax error. If that happens, just IM or email me, and I'll add you manually. Grooves, Stacey

Yeah, that's the syntax error. :-( Several people have used the auto-subscribe successfully this morning, so I know it works--IF the subscribe text is the only text in the body of the email. Some programs/systems add footer text or signatures to all outgoing mail. If you get the syntax error, or don't want to chance it, just IM or email me. I've had a few of both this morning, too.

Stacy, I too got the same syntax error an use OE with no footers. It turned out I had to add my first and last name and then it worked fine: subscribe GildedGeckoNews First Last

It doesn't need your name. Only subscribe listname, as I've specified. Honest :-) The syntax error message says it needs your name, but the system is LYING. g A dozen other people subscribed successfully using just 'subscribe GildedGeckoNews', not including me with several addresses to test it. Glad it finally worked for you though! Thanks!

Well, it may be lying but it is very stubborn about wanting a name. I couldn't subscribe until I added one. But a lot of listservs work that way.
