Some cats have orange eyes...I think the flash reflection makes them look weirder than they would be in nature. Talk about having a bad hair day!
TrekkieGrrrl posted Mon, 28 July 2003 at 11:58 AM
afaik white persions (which this is) are supposed to have orange eyes. I think it's the flash that makes it look so spooky. Than and the wet fur of course.

Maybe this is the Daz morphing cube gone bad. I knew a man who used to shower his cat every day. I thought he must have liked to live dangerously.

Heh our siamese walks into the shower when we turn it on. And long haired show cats are supposed to be bathed. People I know that go to cat shows tells me the cats enjoy it. I dunno.. I'm just glad that siamese aren't supposed to be bathed before a show :o)

I have a 4-year old DLH that has been bathed but once in her life, when she became ill after a trip and was very sick for weeks. Other than that, she's an incredibly clean kitty. If I turn the sink faucet on, she loves it, but DID NOT enjoy her bath in the least, thank goodness she has no front claws... Poor widdle Persian in that pic... One never realizes how tiny their little furballs are until they don't have floofy fur :)
genny posted Mon, 28 July 2003 at 12:51 PM
I once had a cat who had 8 kittens, and when they were 2 weeks old, the mama drank anti-freeze (from what the Vet thinks happened) and we were forced to put her to sleep, leaving us with 8 kittens to bottle feed and take care of their mess..if you know what I mean? Each day when my husband and I got home from work, we would feed them, wait until they did their business and then bath each and everyone of them. I honestly believe they enjoyed it, and if we had continued doing it on a regular basis, I think they would have not minded at all. Needless to say, who wants to come home everyday from work and bath 8 kittens, so as they got older the need was no longer there. We still have one of those kittens, he is ten years old now.......but there is no-way in hell would I try to bath him now. (: genny

OMG! The look on that weird lil' face...! What a priceless pic. My three furballs do NOT like to be bathed and the largest one (over 20 lbs) is not named Claw-claw for nothing ;) I used to feel like I should maybe go for a blood transfusion after bathing him. Oh--and he screams the second the water hits him! I don't mean meows loudly, either...he actually screams! Which totally freaked out the neighbors, who imagined ax murders after 5-6 minutes of blood-curdling screams from our house. And his strategy worked, too--I gave up on bathing him ;)

Funny cat bath story. I was moving from Maine back to Ohio and had my 3 cats in the car for the trip with me. I planned a stop half way in Syracuse at a hotel. With in 5 minutes of leaving my house in Maine, Tasha had an wet accident in her carrier. I told her it was going to be a long smelly trip for both of us. 8 hours later when we got to the hotel, I took all 3 carriers in and set out the flimsy travel litter. Then I took Tasha into the bathroom for a bath. She wasn't too awful in the bath but when I took her out she went crazy and ran from me straight into the litter pan and rolled and rolled. She now looked like a nut covered wet kitty. Of course the litter was all over the floor, too. Traveling with cats...fun for all! Diane

Two of our three cats get regular baths - it's necessary, since one is mostly white and the other is snow white and a longhair. Spike, the all white one, is a bit obsessed with water - he'll stand in the bathrub for hours sometimes, and stare at the faucet, waiting for water to drip. He doesn't mind baths at all. Mushu, the Japanese bobtail who has some black on him, absolutely LOVES baths. I think there's a special bath gene in most white animals. :) The domestic, Bootsie, has been bathed once, and we never attempted it again. Good thing he's a deep grey. :)

LOL - that is too funny! I want that face morph for the mil. cat. Most of our cats hate being bathed. But the stray kitten the kids grabbed out from under the soda machine loves to bathe! She jumps into the shower with my daughter and chases the soap around. We used to have a grey cat who sat on the edge of the tub while I was soaking and would swat the water.

LOL! Very funny pictures and stories! :) I don't think we've ever tried to bathe our cat; we use kitty wipes if we need to. But she has become obsessed with the shower. She loves to watch water move around and go down the drain, so we pour some water in there several times a day and it keeps her happily occupied for a while. :)
Tashar59 posted Mon, 28 July 2003 at 7:06 PM
Mine won't take baths. He will turn the taps on for a drink of water. His water dish isn't good enough for him. It took awhile for me to figure out it was him and not me leaving the taps on. Same type of handle as the first pic.

True story, my nephews were in the back yard playing with the family cat (big kitten) and a little splash pool. These kids have been going to Church (Southern Baptist) with their parents sent birth. So they decide to baptize the cat... well the cat did not think so. After the cat gave one of them a nasty scratch, and escaped. The young of 2 ask the older if he should go catch the cat. His reply was "No ... it can just go to Hell". I laffed so hard I thought I would die.

My Maine Coons love water. One of them always splashes the water from the waterbowls around. She puts her paws into the bowl and drinks that way. Crazy cats but funny. I've put the waterbowl from the bathroom into the bathtube because each time I walked into this room I had wet socks day ;-). And my big Maine Coon boy is doing a little step dance before he drinks, and he sings to his waterbowl. You should see that. It looks almost as if he has to dig for the water first.
Oh, and that kitty in the first pic does not look sad or whatever - this is the default extreme persian kitty look - big eyes, no nose - gladly forbidden to breed them this way in germany.

I found a card with a similar photo as the one posted by ernyoka1 with a quote by Compton MacKenzie: "The only mystery about a cat is why it every decided to become a domestic cat." I think it had something to do with not having to hunt for food, but that's just a notion I have.

My tabby hates the tub unless she jumps into it herself. Then she expects me to turn it on slightly so she can drink. :D My Maine Coon sits and lets her chest ruff soak up the water from the waterbowl. geesh. :) And I really HATE what has been done to certain cats and dogs. Breeding them to 'show quality' extremes... so extreme they have serious nasal or back problems or other medical issues. I loved the old-fashioned Persian cats. And the old-fashioned Siamese. The extreme elongated Siamese just strike me as wrong, never mind the squished face Persians.

there are also those poor animals who have been bred to have very short forearms so they are forced to hop around. But what we have done to dogs is equally disgraceful. And, then, of course, there is what we do to ourselves.
